We had a great experience here. We had a late lunch so the place was not very crowded but our food came out fast and was delicious. I had the turkey and cranberry sandwich and my friend had the falafel. The waitress was really nice and the atmosphere was rustic and log cabin-y. The price was right for the amount of food as well.

This place is great. Took my son and his friend for a late lunch after skiing. Service fantastic and the food was even better. I had the turkey, cranberry, goat cheese sandwich. Best turkey I have had in years and the sandwich plate was plenty filling. Fresh and a gourmet mix of flavors. The others had burgers which were terrific too. I would go out of my way to return.

Stopped into Joe's on a weekend celebrating the fall with some friends. At first glance, Joe's looks like nothing more than a roadside tavern in the film Misery. We were all pleasantly surprised upon entering the dining room area. We ordered the chili for starters. Big mistake, unless you were looking for an entire meal. The chili was delicious and the fresh ingredients did not go unnoticed. Ended up going with the shaved steak sandwich. Great sandwich on a fresh baked italian roll. Joe isn't your typical restaurant cook; this guy is a chef and his food is something special. Will go again if we are in the area.

Hate to say this, because Joe's is one of my "go to" places for lunch in West Dover, but sadly, the family went for dinner here the other night and it was not a good experience. I had the veal parm, which was a recommendation from the waitress and it was like eating cardboard...tough and tasteless with a topping of equally tasteless cheese on top and accompanied by pasta which was completely over cooked and in a very bland tomato sauce. They must have precooked the pasta with it sitting in water for a few hours or so, but it was one of the worst pastas I've ever had. Similar reaction from my brother in law who ordered the pasta special and same for my wife who ordered the eggplant parm and my sister in law stated that her meatloaf was very dried out. I was actually quite surprised in that their lunches are quite good...unsure if there's a different chef during lunch vs dinner, but food quality was terrible. Final note: the waitress was about as unfriendly as you can get...then got pissed off when we told her (rightfully so), that my wife's meal included a Caesar salad although she had not brought her one and then pushed back on us initially when we pointed this out.

Dined at West Dover Joe's this past weekend for lunch. This restaurant is the re-birth of a restaurant which was in the valley years ago and known for it's great food. The current location is the old home of Gringo's, however, it has been nicely renovated and updated into a cool looking place with reclaimed wood everywhere and old photos/etc... The menu is a nice variety of items with something for everyone. I had the smoked brisket sandwich with maple bbq sauce, and my wife had the seared tuna with wasabi sauce over a salad. Both were on the "specials" menu and aptly named. They were very very good. The smoked brisket comes from Canada as the menu said and it had a nice smoky spicy flavor, my wife loved her tuna as well. Overall, a great family fun establishment, I am glad they are back, and will definitely be returning! Just what the valley needs!

Great food and service. I had Seared Tuna BLT, delicious sandwich with lots of flavored. I will definitely have one again next time. Well done guys.

West Dover Joe's is a fine eatery with a casual VT atmosphere! They have a nice variety of beef, poultry & seafood for dinner. It's family friendly, lots of lunch choices too. A small selection of draught beer including Trapp Family Lager and wine for those who like. Looking forward to the grilled ahi tuna.

This is my first time in Vermont. Spent a long weekend here with my fiancé hiking, canoeing, and sightseeing. We've had some decent meals here at a few restaurants. Today after a day of hiking and other activities, we were just too tired to go out to a formal sit down eatery so we called West Dover Joes to see if they did "take-out". Well, sure enough they do, and we ordered the stuff eggplant entree and the ahi tuna salad. I don't want to say I'm a foodie--but I am. The eggplant was amazing! The Abu tuna as fresh as I have ever eaten and the salad dressing along with the wasabi dressing for the tuna was convincingly home made! We will definitely make another stop at Joe's before heading home!

Some friends and I ordered takeout from Joe's a few days while we were on vacation. The food was sub-par and quite bland, especially the proteins. Worst of all however was the horrendous management and staff. We seemed to have an issue every time we picked up an order. Without going into details there was a situation where I strongly question their rating with the board of health. Not a chance I am giving them my business again

Excellent burger (ask for that Portuguese roll toasted!), great bar food and drinks list, supremely friendly and accommodating staff. Great place to watch the game or hang with locals over a cold one. Good times.

Nicest staff ever. And the food was fantastic. Was up for the Green Mountain Adventure Challenge and ate here twice (dinner Saturday and lunch Sunday). The food was amazing and I really can't emphasize enough how great our server was. So so friendly and awesome.

Started funny as I called for reservations and they told me they don't take them and when I arrived and requested the booth vs the table, they said it was taken by a reservation....weird. Quick synopsis; calamari - good but a bit too oily. Schnitzel - good but thicker then I'm used to. The sirloin and salad w sirloin - almost inedible as it tasted like charcoal. The lava cake and pecan cheesecake were okay. The kids however loved the whipped cream that came with it. If you go - avoid the steak. I would rate 2 1/2 but not an option.

Super diasapointed with how the kitchen staff treated me at the counter. Both orders for a salad were made over the phone for pick up, the first time my meat was cooked well done when asked for rare, and at pick up received an attitude about how I asked my meat to be cooked. Second time ordered the same thing for pick up at a specific time, and order was cooked an hour early and sat there! At the counter same staff member said we were wondering if you were ever going to show, meanwhile I showed up 5 minutes early to requested time. Never going back

The food here is extremely bland, well below average for the area. Worse than the food was the aggressively poor, borderline confrontational service. If you must eat here I can say the sausage and peppers, and the Italian sandwich are both serviceable choices.

Searched Yelp while in West Dover, VT with the wife and found this place. It was way below the reviews and we were disappointed.

Lunch was fair. All our appetizers were good, we had fajitas, buffalo wings and fried calamari. I had the Falafel wrap which was okay. Three others all had the Wimpy Burger and it was burned on the outside, but okay besides that. Fries were very good The cheesesteak got a thumbs up and the fish wrap was terrible because it tasted like they put steak sauce on it. It would have been good except for that. The service was pretty slow, but in their defence it was probably busier then usual because it was a rainy and people who are normally skiing were eating lunch instead (like us).

Food was good. A nice surprise. Large portions so sharing is good. I had the pork and bean soup it was delicious! But more like a meal.

We found Joe's through yelp and after reading reviews decided to give it a try. The firs thing we noticed it was the only place with cars in the parking lot. We were greeted by Teresa (very friendly with a great smile) who seated us and also turned out to be our waitress. The menu offers something for everyone. Bill had the crab cake app, which he enjoyed (he is a crab cake aficionado). I had the wedge salad no bacon as I don't eat meat. The ranch dressing was great highlighted with dill and the cranberries added a nice touch. I ordered the eggplant Napoleon which was absolutely delicious. Served over a bed of quinoa with a homemade light tomato sauce. The eggplant was grilled to perfection with wilted spinach and baked tomato slice. It was perfectly seasoned as well. I was not surprised as the reviews we read had a lot of good things to say. Bill had the ahi tuna over a risotto cake with seaweed salad. He was very pleased. The presentation of both was also nice. Our waitress was friendly and competent as well as solicitous (not overly) we will definitely be back next time we visit the area.

Came here based on Yelp's recommendation, I was very disappointed...I guess either we were unlucky or it was actually pretty bad. We were a group of 10 people. We had: Nacho Platter, Buffalo Wings, Angry Mussels, Onion Ring, Ahi Tuna Sala, Chipole Lime Shrimp, French Fries, Scallops Joe, Grilled Salmon, Stuff Chicken Marsla, Soup du our, Chicken Carbonara. I guess the portion of food was generous, but the quality of food was veyr average. Chipole Lime Shrimp was probably the best, Salmon was good, but NO Ahi Tuna, it was not great. The service was ok, but I think it was really more of a 2.5 stars place

Chose this restaurant based on menu selection and other Yelp reviews while in town for the weekend. The restaurant was busy, so service was slower than average, and the waitstaff were not as courteous and accommodating than they could have been. I am willing to let it slide as an anomaly due to a high traffic weekend. The reason why we chose the restaurant did not disappoint, however. The selection was great, the quality of each dish was excellent, and the price was reasonable. Definitely recommend. Five stars if waitstaff had been more courteous/accommodating.

Never actually got to try it. There was a sign saying "Please Wait to be Seated." After a family told us they had been waiting for 5 minutes and hadn't seen anyone, so we bailed. Bad service from the start is not a good sign to me.

We've been here before when in the area for the Tough Mudder. We have ALWAYS had a great expereince and a delicious meal. This past visit we only went for breakfast on our last day - it was quite good. I did feel bad for the one waitress who was handling all of the tables inside and out as it made the service slow but all in all, nothing that would keep us from going there again.

Came here for lunch twice after a day of skiing at Mt. Snow. Here are my thoughts: The food appears to be very fresh and homemade. We had turkey soup on both visits and it was clearly homemade. Nice broth, fresh veggies, and big pieces of turkey. Just like my mom used to make. Big points there as most places have pre-made frozen soups full of crap. We also enjoyed a turkey burger wrap and the burger tasted like it was a homemade patty from fresh ground turkey. Again, did not seem like it was a pre-made frozen product. We had a fresh turkey sandwich on another visit. The turkey was great. Maybe not made there but definitely not cold cut quality. Decent beer selection. All pints reasonably priced at $4.00. Bottles $3.50 avg with an ok selection. They have wines too but we did not indulge. There only two downfalls which make this a 3.5 review and not a 4 is the service and the prices. The prices are a tad high, sandwiches averaging $10-11. Homemade is great but $10 for a turkey sandwich is a stupid. I know, I know, it's a ski town. But hey, we're not on the resort! The service is friendly but on our second visit the waitress was a bit I attentive. We asked for a wrap and got ciabatta bread, (which was good, just not what we wanted). We asked for cranberry horseradish on the sandwich and it came on the side, (not the end of the world but just evidence that she wasn't really paying attention). Looking forward to my next trip to the mountain and lunch at Joe's!

We ate at Joe's on a local's recommendation last night and were pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed our meals. We each had the Lasagna special and it was just what we needed after a day of skiing. The service was great and we would definitely go back. They serve large portions and are reasonably priced.

Stopped in for lunch on a short day of skiing. Healthy options, and catered to my families different dietary needs. Good food for the small selection of places to eat in the area. Would recommend to friends and family.

I have been to this restaurant several times while working in the valley. I've always had a great lunch. Soups are awesome as are the wraps. I will definitely visit again.

We were all set to go to a restaurant down the street, and then we read a really terrible Yelp review and decided to go here instead. I'm so glad we did! The restaurant is clean, the servers and hostess are so friendly, and the food was delicious. We had the potato gnocchi and steak. It was one of the better meals we've had in the area. It's not cheap, but the portions are hearty. There seem to be a lot of "all bark and no bite" restaurants in the area; this place definitely lives up to its prices and advertised quality. We'll be back.

OK..I have owned a second home at Bears Crossing for over 20 years. We have eaten at every place in the valley..It may not be the most charming spot, but the food is absolutely delicious. My understanding is the owner is a CIA trained chef. No, not Central Intelligence, Hyde Park style. They have the best lunches ( Turkey sandwich ) and fabulous dinners. All the dishes are served hot, delicious , with the freshest ingredients. Did I mention the reasonable prices? Many of the places in town are reaching the tipping point with their costs. This place is the best value in the Valley... If you are looking for over priced places with "ambience " go to the Hermitage, Two Tannery, etc, etc...This is the real deal...... Steve Z

We were in town for a conference, and surprised to find that it was "mud season" (so many of the surrounding restaurants were closed). But, West Dover Joe's was a recommendation by the front desk person at the resort, and we were certainly not disappointed. The food was great--large portions, nice mixture of items to choose from. Also, great ambience--somewhat rustic, but very well-maintained and comfortable. There was also a music area for bands. Definitely recommend.

Disappointed! Our first time in the West Dover area and we were starved after a day at Mt. Snow. We stayed at the Kithof Inn and the guy who worked there had this place as one of his recommendations. It was only a 3 minute drive from where we staying plus he gave us a voucher to get either a glass of wine or a dessert on the house per person. That was enough to sell us. Off we went. The food was bland bland bland and that's referring to 3 entrees and an app. The service was pretty bad too. There seemed like there was only one waitress that was left to tend one side of the room, which held about 20-25 people. She was def worn thin and it showed in her non-existence. We ordered an order of fried pickles to start, the black bean veggie burger, the turkey and cranberry sandwhich and the chicken cordon bleu. Everything was super bland. It was just edible enough to eat, but not enjoy. Between the bleh food and the bleh service, I def wouldn't recommend this place and def wouldn't come back. The only saving grace was the free wine/dessert!

We decided to skip the lodge's continental breakfast and headed into town to see what we could scrounge up before hitting the slopes. We literally stopped because Joe's had a sign out front- "now serving breakfast" yet not a soul was in the parking lot. My partner and I are certainly glad we stopped- despite the empty premises, our breakfast was unforgettable. We each had an egg breakfast, complete with morning mimosas. The eggs were fluffy, the meat was plentiful and cooked to perfection, and the potatoes delicious. They also came with some type of dense english muffin covered in a sweet, homemade tasting butter. You seriously had to roll us out of there as we ate every single bite. We can't wait to come back!

It's really a deli that has a tiny side room for dinner service. Not expensive at all but to be honest I would pay an extra premium to have better quality food. Gnocchi Bolognese had no flavor except for the freezer burnt Gnocchi. If it hadn't been for snowboarding for 7 hours earlier in the day I would not of eaten it after my first bite or two. Friend had a steak and said it was pretty good. Another had lasagna (a special) that was basically lasagna noddles with red sauce and meat. No cheese FYI! My pops had the Cordon Bleu which he said was ok. The staff and bartenders were excellent.

Ordered the southern fried chicken. With mash, broccoli, mushroom gravy. All I can say is I enjoyed the gravy. While the food Looked really good it was very bland. I will give this place another try next time I am up at Mt. Snow and order something different just to be fair.

I spend a lot of time in West Dover area and have eaten at just about every restaurant there. West Dover Joe's Restaurant & Market has been a breath of fresh air in a maze of fast serving, turn-the-table-over places. I've been there multiple times for lunch and dinner, don't think I've ever ordered the same thing twice, and I have yet to be disappointed. WDJ's is chef owned and operated and he will not hesitate to come out and talk to his customers. If you're looking for something to start with, try the Hog wings...it's to die for. The WDJ's menu has something for everyone even the kids. Plus they will go out of their way to accommodate any special dietary needs you may have. Our daughter and son-in-law are vegans and the chef prepared a delicious meal for them and their kids. I am all about consistency and this place definitely has it. The staff is very friendly and you don't get lost in the crowd. WDJ's is a place where you get to know everyone. You should definitely give it a try! FYI...The chef/owner's name is Brett not Joe...oh, and he is a graduate of the CIA (the Culinary Institute of America).

My husband and I stopped here on a Saturday night and just wanted something quick to eat in a casual atmosphere. There was a 15 minute wait but since there is a bar we had a place ot sit the whole time. I ordered the turkey cranberry sandwich and he ordered the cheese steak. Both were great. I won't say that the fries were good, I like mine a little more cooked. I though these were a bit soggy. But the sandwiches were great and the service was fast once we were at a table. We would definetely return again.

Have visited West Dover Joe's twice now...and very disappointed. My husband and I went in for a drink, and waited 10 minutes before we decided to leave. Not one staff member acknowledged we were there. Service is non-existent. I would not recommend this restaurant/market/bar to anyone.
